If you want to learn how to make money as a kid while in school, then hold onto you school seat because I’m about to show you plenty of ways for kids to make money in school hours.
So why wait until you leave school to start earning extra money?
People spend money everyday, so why not put a little of that money into your pocket instead.
Read on and I’ll show you how easy it is to make money as a kid.
How to Make Money as a Kid
#1 – Sell Stuff
OK, let’s start this with the most obvious way to make money in school, selling stuff.
Yes, the school canteen is a total ripoff and sometimes kids can’t get access to the stuff they really want so if you can buy in bulk from the local supermarket and sell per piece at school you’ll easily make a tidy profit.
But you don’t want to get caught as generally schools want you to focus on school rather than making money, but hey you’re just supplying the demands of the marketplace.
If you wait until after school, you risk losing your customers to the local corner store, so make sure you utilize your school breaks wisely and sell, sell, sell.
Oh, and you’ll want to keep a low profile so you don’t get caught and don’t attract the attention of the school bully. Better still approach the school bully and offer them some money to make sure no one bothers you. It’s a win-win for both of you, but don’t encourage any rough stuff because that’s not cool.
What Can I Sell in School to Make Money – Candy, Trading Cards, Gadgets and Cool Stationery. Really what ever is trendy now.
Traps for Noobs
- Don’t get caught – When a teacher gives you a warning, play it cool for a while because they’ll have eyes on you and your activities.
- Don’t work out of your locker – This will be too obvious, so trade from your lunchbox, as it just looks like your parents gave you the extra candy 😉
- Supply and Demand
- Price Points
- Managing Money
- Bully’s can be bought
#2 – Trading Cards
If your thriving sales business suddenly meets an abrupt end or the school playground is already flooded with sellers, then consider trading stuff.
Trading Cards are the biggest opportunity you’ll have to make money as a kid while at school, but you need to look beyond school. You see Adults also love trading cards and have disposable incomes.
Your Trading Cards + Adult Collectors = PROFITS
Use school hours to trade with your friends and then list those cards later on, sites like eBay or Craigslist. And don’t get picky about what cards you’re collecting, because both girls and boys collect cards.
If you have too many collections then start up a simple shopping website and list the cards you have for sale and then tell your friends. When they see something they like they can ‘buy’ the card and you can take it into school the next day, and make the trade.
Some Popular Trading Cards are:-
- Magic The Gathering
- Football Cards
- Baseball Cards
Here are some other trading cards you might have never heard of and could start collecting and trading.
Remember to buy in bulk when you can as you’ll make way more money than buying individual packs.
Also, offer to find unique cards for people and sell with a small finders fee.
Trading Cards can be fun and rewarding at the same time, and even if you don’t sell those cards right away, they’ll be worth more in the future. But only if you look after them.
Traps for Noobs
- Know your prices – Knowing the real value of a trading card will ensure you keeping making profits
- Keep you cards in mint condition – The better condition your cards are in, the more money you’ll make. Buy some card sleeves and protect those cards for the future.
- Kids only have limited funds so don’t get into the high-end card trades as often you’ll be disappointed with the outcome. Sell those online instead.
- Value of Cards
- Buy Low – Sell High
- Adults are Collectors too

BONUS SECTION: How to Make Money Outside of School
Most of the ideas above are a perfect way to make money inside of school hours, but after school you have even more freedom to do as you please.
And rather than waste your time watching TV try building a YouTube channel as another way to make money as a kid.
There are plenty of young people making millions from YouTube, yes millions, and they all started the same way. With ZERO subscribers.
It’s hard to believe that someone with millions of subscribers started that way, but they all did. And it’s a slow grind at best, but worth it if you can just keep producing interesting content.
I have no doubt that publishing a video once a week over a few years will gain you thousands of subscribers as YouTube rewards consistency.
Sure when it’s new an exciting you might want to upload every day, but eventually the novelty wears off and it becomes a chore. Pace yourself and aim for at least a years worth of regular uploading and then make the decision if you are getting any traction with YouTube.
And the great thing about YouTube is you can schedule your videos so they consistently publish at the same time every week.
You just need to find an idea that’s unique and interesting, but you can develop this over time.
Some genres that are always popular are:- Gaming walkthroughs , pranking, parodies, reaction videos, vlogging and ‘how to’ videos.
So if you’re stuck for an idea, then start there, but remember to develop your own style if you want to stand out from the crowd and ultimately become successful.
Realistically this is what you first 100 subscribers might look like.
So there are plenty of other ways to make money as a kid, but these are certainly the most popular ones.
Although the principles are generally the same, where you buy low and sell for a profit. And the more you know your prices, the less chance you’ll get ripped off.
When you read the personal stories of the wealthiest people on the planet, you’ll usually find a story that starts with similar ideas to these, as when you learn how to make a dollar you soon realize making that next one is even easier.
Age is no barrier to make money as a kid, it just takes hard work and being prepared to do things others can’t be bothered with.
Good Luck, study hard and try making a little extra pocket money along the way.
